usregs.ai is an open source project designed to make federal regulations easier to understand for the general public. We use artificial intelligence to provide clear explanations and highlight key points from US Federal Register regulations.

We process regulation text using traditional natural language processing and large language models ("AI") to make it more accessible. For each regulation, we start by retrieving and organizing information from official sources:

• We download the official Federal Register metadata and content
• We parse the regulation content, structure, and key information
• We store this in a standardized structure for analysis and comparison

Next, we use standard techniques to make quantitative and qualitative information more accessible:

• We extract key measures of size and complexity
• We generate summaries of the regulation and its sections
• We identify potential issues and financial impacts

Finally, we present this information in a clear and concise format for easy understanding and comparison.
