The State Department has determined that certain objects from abroad, slated for temporary display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibition "Iba N'Diaye: Between Latitude and Longitude," are culturally significant and that their display in the U.S. serves the national interest. This determination allows the objects to be imported under special agreements with their owners. The decision was made under the authority of various U.S. laws and executive orders related to cultural exchanges. Reed Liriano, the Program Coordinator at the Department of State, is the contact person for more information.

    Simple Explanation

Some special treasures from another country are coming to be shown in a big museum in New York. The people in charge decided this is a good thing for everyone, even though they didn’t tell us exactly why or which treasures are coming.
