Indiana University has updated its inventory of human remains and funerary objects, previously published in the Federal Register, by correcting the number of individuals and items listed. If anyone from an Indian Tribe or Native Hawaiian organization not mentioned in the notice wants to claim these remains and objects, they must contact the Indiana University NAGPRA Office by March 1, 2021. If no new requests are made, the items may be transferred to the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation, North Dakota. This notice was part of the requirements under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.

The Illinois State Museum plans to return certain cultural items to Native American tribes, following the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). These items, which include objects like cuprous coils and leather wraps, were collected in the early 20th century from sites in North Dakota and are believed to be related to the Arikara people, now part of the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation. Repatriation may occur after April 16, 2025, if no competing claims from other tribes or descendants emerge. The Museum is responsible for determining the rightful recipient if multiple eligible requests are made.

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Illinois State Museum has identified human remains and funerary objects linked to the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation, North Dakota. At least four individuals' remains and various funerary objects were found to have been collected from sites in South Dakota and North Dakota. The museum plans to repatriate these remains and objects from April 16, 2025, onwards. Requests for repatriation can be made by the identified Indian Tribes or others who can prove cultural affiliation or descent.
